New wanted poster for the six month anniversary of Lindsay's death
Bill Hawker
The father of murdered Lindsay Hawker is to mark the six month anniversary of her death 25/09/07 by handing out ‘wanted’ posters of the suspect at Heathrow Airport.
Bill Hawker, 54, will be approaching passengers flying on the Virgin Atlantic Tokyo flight, to urge them to look out for Tatsuya Ichihashi on their trip to Japan. The posters will be in both English and Japanese and carry a picture of the suspect and a picture of Lindsay.
Ichihashi, 28, has not been seen since he fled from police in the Chiba area of Tokyo on 25 March this year, just before officers found Lindsay’s body in his apartment.
The Hawker family have received the support of Virgin boss Richard Branson who has allowed them to approach his passengers on the flight tomorrow.
Bill Hawker said: “It is now six months since Lindsay was murdered and still the suspect hasn’t been caught or sighted anywhere. It is incredibly frustrating for us as we feel that we can have no peace until he is caught. Our beautiful daughter was brutally murdered by this man and we are concerned that if he is not caught he may strike again.
“I feel that I need to go to Heathrow and give out the flyers, as a family we need to do everything we can to help find him for Lindsay’s sake and we hope that the people travelling to Japan look out for him and report any sightings to police or via our website www.Lindsayannhawker.com
Bill will be joined by his sister Susan and Lindsay’s best friend Laura Thompson.
Opening their hearts the family said: “We are still horrified and shocked by the brutal murder of our daughter and sister, Lindsay. Six months may have passed, but to us it feels like only yesterday, that we received this dreadful news.
“We remain steadfast in our belief that the killer must be brought to justice. Tatsuya Ichihashi is an evil man, who after murdering our daughter, was to all intents and purposes, going to continue living "a normal life" with the body of our beautiful daughter lying in his apartment. The initial autopsy results suggest that the murder was violent and Lindsay suffered dreadfully. We are fearful that he will commit another murder, and would not like any other family to suffer the pain, devastation and torment that we have endured since 25 March 2007.
“Lindsay was an amazing person, who brought happiness and joy to so many people and Ichihashi must be brought to justice. He is the only suspect. If Ichihashi is caught it will not bring back Lindsay, but it would at least allow us to grieve in peace.
“We have worked tirelessly to try and obtain information about the police investigation, and to assist them with their enquiries in any way that we can. This has included setting up the website: www.Lindsayannhawker.com 85,000 hits to date, sending an email worldwide, and setting up a facebook group which now has 12,000 members. This is called "Don't forget Lindsay Hawker- Please Remember This Face".
“It is so difficult to try and cope with the loss of a child and sister, but even more so, when they have been murdered. The fact that this murder took place 12,000 miles away and the Japanese police do not operate in the same way as British police, in that they do not consider that the victims of crime have a right to information, has meant that we feel very isolated and distraught.
“This has not altered our resolve however, and we continue to do all we can both diplomatically and through the press to try and keep up the pressure to ensure that the people remember this dreadful crime, and continue to keep up the search for Ichihashi.”
